About

Drown Zero is made possible by the Surfing’s Evolution & Preservation Foundation along with the Cocoa Beach Rotary Club, in conjunction with the City of Cocoa Beach. Drown Zero's mission is to prevent drownings worldwide through education, awareness, and rescue equipment implementation.

We are proud to announce that with the support of the Surfing’s Eveolution and Preservation Foundation our club has the ability to expand the Drown Zero project in 2023.

Collectively, there are 112 flotation stations along the public beaches in Brevard County. Each station has installed an orange life-saving ring to provide assistance to distressed swimmers in the event the beach is unguarded or a lifeguard is off-duty.

To help offset the expense of building the flotation stations, local businesses and residents have adopted the station rings, making it a community sponsored program. The Drown Zero program is making beaches safer, one station at a time.

It is our hope that more coastal cities, towns, and villages will work together with community organizations and initiate similar projects to aid in the prevention of drownings along their shores.

“Even if these rings save just one life, it is worth it.”
~Ed Martinez, City of Cocoa Beach Commissioner
